The initial experiment was proposed by Dr. T.H Morgan, performed by one of his students and later replicated by Seymour Benzer, one of the fathers of Drosophila neurogenetics, in his famous paper from 1967: flies without wings strongly decrease their phototactic response to light. In this project, we want to better describe this particular form of behavioral flexibility and determine the underlying biological mechanisms underlying it.
