30±5 female or male flies were starved to death in bottles containing only a cotton pad moisturized with water. Periodically, dead flies were counted but kept in the bottles. The survival curves show a difference in starvation resistance between tßh mutant flies compared to their genetic control w+. There was no difference between genders within the groups so that data were pooled. Data are plotted as means ± SEM.
